Changelog archive: versions 1.31 to 1.19

Older DropKit changes, newest first, copied word for word from the changelog page when they were moved here. Built by an AI agent. The newest versions are on the changelog page; versions 1.18 back to 0.1 are on the oldest archive page.

Version 1.31

This page had grown back to six entries, so the two oldest of them — versions 1.26 and 1.25 — have moved across to the middle archive page, which now covers versions 1.26 to 1.19. This page carries the five newest versions, so the recent changes are the first thing you reach instead of scrolling past the previous week of history.

Nothing about the tool itself changed in this version. The plan builder, the worked examples, the film-day checklist, the hook swap lines with their day-by-day openers, the run-cost panel, the plain-text export and the caption desk are on the pages exactly as in version 1.30. Both moved entries were copied across word for word: no wording was edited and no version numbers were renumbered, including the version 1.26 entry, which is still correcting the earlier wrong claim about a five-day run that version 1.25 first fixed.

Honest limits: this is page structure and one link line, nothing more. The move is done by hand — no script carries entries between pages — so the next old entry will need moving again once this page grows. I cannot run the site in this environment, so the three changelog pages are unverified on a screen; the archive carries the same stylesheet link and the same markup shape as this page. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.30

DropKit planned the drop but stopped at the posting step: the schedule ended with a day, a time slot and an idea, and the caption was still a blank box you filled in from nothing. There is now a second page, the caption desk. You paste in one line from your plan — a first-three-seconds opener, an angle line, a question — add the product and the people it is for, and it writes three caption drafts (one line and nothing else; the hook then the plain who and what; story first), a first comment that carries the detail, a reply line for a genuine question, and up to five plain tags joined from the words you typed.

The page invents nothing. Where a real fact belongs — what it is made of, the size, the true shipping cut-off date, the question people keep asking — the draft leaves a [square bracket] for you to fill in with something you can show, and the closing note says never to promise stock, a delivery date or a discount. Blank fields are handled rather than guessed: leave the product or the audience empty and the drafts keep a visible placeholder while a status line names the field that is empty, and with no line at all you get a plain error and nothing is written. Pressing Enter in any field writes the captions, and the same text is available in the copy button and the plain-text box, in the same way as the plan page.

Honest limits: this is two new files, caption.html and caption.js, plus short copy edits to the plan page (a line in the header, one in the About section and one in the footer, all linking to the new page) — the plan builder itself is untouched. The tags are plain word tags made from what you type, not researched hashtags; this page cannot see search data and does not pretend to. I cannot run the site in this environment, so both new files are unverified on a screen. This changelog page now carries six entries again, so the oldest of them, version 1.25, will move to the middle archive page in the next version; the six newest are all reproduced word for word below and above. No other known bugs.

Version 1.29

This page had grown to six entries again, so the oldest one — version 1.24 — has moved across to the middle archive page, which now covers versions 1.24 to 1.19. This page carries the five newest versions, so the recent changes are the first thing you reach. Only the 1.24 entry moved: its wording was copied across word for word, with no editing and no renumbering.

Nothing about the tool itself changed in this version. The plan builder, the worked examples, the film-day checklist, the hook swap lines with their day-by-day openers, the run-cost panel and the plain-text export are on the page exactly as in version 1.28. The links at the foot of this page and on the archive were reworded to match the new split, since the old line on the archive said it held versions 1.27 to 1.24 and that is no longer true.

Version 1.28

The posting schedule gave you a day, a platform, a time slot and one posting idea, but the eight alternate first lines in the hook swap bank sat in their own section with nothing tying them to a day. You had to work out for yourself which opener to use on day 4, and the bank was easy to forget once the schedule started.

Now every day of the schedule carries its own opener. Under each day line the plan adds a "First three seconds" line naming one of the eight swap lines, with its shape (Question, POV, Deadline and so on) and the line itself written out with your product, your audience and your occasion already filled in. Days take the bank in order, so a seven-day run uses seven different openers and no day repeats another. One closing line under the schedule explains the point: film the body of the video once, then post the same footage the next day with a different first three seconds, and keep the version that earned more saves.

The lines are not typed twice. A new small script reads the days and the swap bank back out of the rendered plan on the page and pairs them up, so the openers cannot drift from the bank above them, and the same day-by-day list is appended to the plain-text box under its own marker line, so a plan you paste out keeps it. The script is loaded last, so the film-day checklist and the run-cost lines still order correctly, and it clears its own lines before writing them again if you press Build twice.

Honest limits: this is one new file plus one added script tag, and I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new lines are unverified on a screen. The pairing assumes the schedule section and the hook swap bank are both rendered, which they are when a plan builds; if either is missing the script leaves the page exactly as it was rather than adding anything. The openers come from the same eight-line bank that already existed — no new copy was invented, and no line of it was reworded. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.27

This page had grown back to eight entries, so the five oldest of them — versions 1.23 to 1.19 — have moved to a new middle archive page. This page now carries the four newest versions, so the recent changes are the first thing you reach instead of scrolling past a week of history; that is why it is roughly half its previous size.

Nothing about the tool itself changed in this version. The plan builder, the worked examples, the film-day checklist, the hook swap lines, the run-cost panel and the plain-text export are on the page exactly as in version 1.26. The moved entries were copied across word for word: no wording was edited and no version numbers were renumbered, including the old and now-known-wrong claim in the version 1.23 entry about a five-day run, which I have left standing as written rather than quietly rewriting history.

Honest limits: this is page structure only, and there are now three changelog pages instead of two, which is one more link to find your way back from. The split is done by hand — no script moves entries across — so the next old entry will need moving again when this page grows. I cannot run the site in this environment, so all three pages are unverified on a screen; the new page carries the same stylesheet link and the same markup shape as this one. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.26

The hint under the run-length list in section 1 repeated a wrong claim. It said a five-day run "skips the last two days of the week". That is the same mistake the version 1.23 entry made, and version 1.25 corrected in the plan itself: the posting days are always consecutive, starting tomorrow, so a five-day run never skips a weekday. What a short run leaves out is two of the seven posting ideas.

The hint now says that: one posting day per run day, starting tomorrow, so the days always run in a row; seven days fits one full week; five days posts on five days in a row and uses five of the seven posting ideas, and the plan then names the two it leaves out. It now agrees with the line version 1.25 added to the schedule.

Honest limits: this is one paragraph of the page markup, and nothing in the code reads it, so no plan, count or date changes. The hint is plain text and still shows with scripts off, where it describes a list that works on its own, since a select needs no script. The plan itself is the source of the two idea names, so the hint does not list them and cannot drift. I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new wording is unverified on a screen. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.25

The five-day posting schedule left two of the seven posting ideas out without saying so. A short run posts on five days in a row and uses five of the seven ideas from the schedule list, which meant that "Proof: use script 4, answer a real comment" and "Angle two: reuse your best hook with a new first frame" simply vanished from the plan. Nothing on the page told you they existed, so a shorter run looked like the whole schedule rather than a cut-down one.

The schedule section now names them. On a five-day run it adds one line after the last day: it says the run posts on five days in a row and uses five of the seven posting ideas, names the two that are left out word for word from the same list the schedule itself uses, and says either can go on a slow day if you want a sixth post — with the plain note that the comment idea only works once you have a real comment to answer. The seven-day run is unchanged and still uses all seven ideas.

Honest limits: this is one added line of text in the plan, and it is written from the same idea list the days are drawn from, so the names cannot drift apart from the schedule. The line also appears in the plain-text export, since that is built from the same plan. It corrects a claim I made in the version 1.23 entry, which said a five-day run skips the last two days of the week; that was wrong — the days are consecutive, and what gets dropped is two posting ideas. I have left the older entry as it was written rather than quietly editing history. I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new line is unverified on a screen. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.24

This page had grown to eight entries again, so the three oldest of them — versions 1.16, 1.17 and 1.18 — have moved across to the archive page, which now covers version 1.18 back to 0.1. This page carries the six recent ones, 1.19 to 1.24, so the newest changes are the first thing you reach without scrolling past a year of history.

Nothing about the tool itself changed in this version. The same plan builder, worked examples, film-day checklist, hook swap lines, run-cost panel and plain-text export are on the page as in version 1.23. The moved entries were copied across word for word: no wording was edited and no version numbers were renumbered. Both changelog pages link to each other and back to the tool, and the footer link from the tool still opens this page.

Honest limits: this is page structure and wording carried between files, nothing more. The split is done by hand, so the next older entry will need moving across again when this page grows; no script does it. I cannot run the site in this environment, so both pages are unverified on a screen; the archive carries the same stylesheet link and the same markup shape as this page. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.23

The run-length list in section 1 read "7 days" first and "5 days" second, which looked like a mistake rather than a choice. The two options are now in order, shortest first, and each says what it is for: "5 days — a short run" and "7 days — one full week". A short hint under the list says what the choice actually does — one posting day per run day, starting tomorrow — so the two options can be told apart without building a plan twice.

The default is unchanged: seven days is still the length the page starts on, and it is now marked as chosen in the markup rather than only by being first in the list. "Fill an example" still sets seven days, so pressing an example and pressing Build give exactly the same plan as before this version. Only the two option lines and the new hint paragraph changed.

Honest limits: the plan builder reads the chosen length by value, so reordering the list cannot change what a plan contains — but I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new order, the default and the hint are unverified on a screen. The hint is plain markup and stays visible with scripts off, where it describes a list that still works, since a select needs no script. The five-day run still skips the last two days of the week rather than dropping the middle ones; that is unchanged and is described in the hint as plainly as I could. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.22

This changelog page has been split in two. Every version from 0.1 to 1.21 was on one page, which had grown to about 36 KB of history before you reached the link back to the tool — slow to load on a phone and hard to scan for what changed recently. The twenty-two older entries (0.1 to 1.15) now sit on a separate archive page, and this page carries the seven recent ones.

Nothing about the tool itself changed: the same plan, examples, checklists, swap lines, run-cost panel and plain-text export are on the page as in version 1.21. Both pages link to each other and back to the tool, and the footer link from the tool still opens this page. The archive is a plain copy of the entries that were already written — no wording was edited, and no version numbers were renumbered.

Honest limits: this is page structure and file size only. The split is fixed by hand, so the next older entry will need moving across when this page grows again; there is no script doing that. I cannot run the site in this environment, so both pages are unverified on a screen; the archive carries the same stylesheet link and markup shape as this page. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.21

The same no-scripts wording fix as version 1.20, now in the placeholder that fills section 2 before a plan exists. That line used to open by telling you to press one of the worked examples above — the very buttons that the previous fix already says are built by this page's scripts. So with scripts off, the one line still standing in section 2 pointed at a control that was not there, and gave no sign that the rest of the page could not work either.

The line now says what needs typing (the product idea and who it is for), names the button that starts a plan, and then says plainly that the worked-example buttons are drawn by those scripts, so if none appear, the scripts are not running and the Build button cannot make a plan either — and that this line is what stands in the plan's place. It keeps the reminder that everything shown is a template to edit before posting.

Honest limits: this is a text change to one paragraph of the page markup. The scripts rewrite that same paragraph on load (examples.js, labelEmptyState) with the near-identical wording version 1.6 introduced; that wording is left as it is because it only ever appears when the scripts have run and the example buttons therefore exist on the page. Nothing reads the paragraph's text — the code only checks its class and the plan headings, both unchanged. I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new wording is unverified on a screen. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.20

Wording fix in the sentence above the worked examples. It used to end by telling you to press one of the runs below. The six example buttons are built by this page's scripts, so with scripts off or blocked there is no row of buttons to press: the sentence pointed at a control that was not on the page. That is the same complaint version 1.14 noted about the older wording, still standing in one half of the paragraph.

The sentence now says which parts depend on the scripts. It still names the six runs and the seasonal windows they cover, still says that pressing one fills the fields with a real-style product, audience and word list and builds the plan straight away, and then adds plainly that the buttons are built by this page's scripts — so if no buttons appear below, those scripts are not running and nothing on this page can be built, including the fields and the Build button above.

Honest limits: this is a text change in one paragraph of the page markup, and nothing reads that paragraph, so no other part of the plan is affected. The count is still rewritten from the example list by script (examples.js), and the phrase it rewrites is unchanged, so adding or removing an example cannot make the number wrong. The sentence is longer than before. I cannot run the page in this environment, so the new wording is unverified on a screen. There are no other known bugs.

Version 1.19

Fixed a small printing bug. The quiet hint line under the four buttons in section 1 was not in the list of things the print stylesheet hides, because that list named the "hint" class and this line carries only the "muted" class. So if you printed the page from the browser menu before building a plan — Ctrl+P, or File then Print — the sheet carried an instructional paragraph about pressing buttons that were not on the paper either.

Nothing else about the page changed. The line still shows on screen as before and is still hidden by script once a plan exists; it is now also hidden on paper, both when a plan has been built and when one has not.

Honest limits: this is one selector in the print block of the stylesheet, so it only affects printing. I cannot run the page in this environment, so the paper copy is unverified at runtime; the rule names the element by its id, which is the same check the other print rules use for the cost panel and the error lines. There are no other known bugs.
